Dux Water-based Gilding Size

Dux Water-Based Gilding Size is a clear, water-based adhesive formulated specifically for interior gilding applications. This synthetic size dries clear and reaches the proper gilding tack in approximately 15–25 minutes, while remaining open for gilding for up to 36 hours, providing flexibility for detailed or extended work.

Because it is emission-safe, non-flammable, and low in toxicity, Dux Water-Based Size is well suited for indoor environments and studio use. It is commonly used for applying imitation gold, aluminum, and copper leaf, producing a consistent and even tack for reliable adhesion.

This size may also be used in situations where a two-part conversion protective coating will be applied afterward, helping prevent lifting that can sometimes occur when oil- or solvent-based sizes are used. Once gilding is complete, the surface may typically be sealed after approximately 48 hours.
