Eytzinger Crocodile Genuine Gold Leaf Rolls
Founded in 1796, Eytzinger Crocodile Gold is a leading German manufacturer of high-quality gold leaf, built on a centuries-old goldbeating tradition and known for its strength, consistency, and performance. Gold Leaf in roll form—also known as Ribbon Leaf—is created by laying individual sheets of loose gold leaf onto a continuous length of lightweight paper with slight overlaps. Unlike Patent Gold Leaf, which is pressure-mounted to tissue, ribbon leaf is adhered to the backing paper using a light wax coating applied during the rolling process. This construction allows for efficient, continuous application while maintaining control over the delicate metal.
Standard Crocodile master rolls are approximately 69 feet in length and cover approximately 23 square feet without waste or overlap. Rolls are typically 105 mm (4-1/8 inches) wide, and any width up to 100 mm can be custom cut from master rolls on special order. Each roll is assembled by placing 4-1/8 inch square leaves along the paper with an approximate 2 mm overlap, creating a continuous ribbon of gold for streamlined application.
