Tamise

Tamise Leaf is valued by artists and decorative finishers for its fine, irregular texture and versatility, making it an excellent choice for creating nuanced, layered metallic surfaces. Similar in concept to schabin but smaller in scale, Tamise offers greater control while still achieving a dynamic, organic finish.

Tamise consists of special schabin-style flakes made from high-quality imitation metal leaf, available in Composition Gold (imitation gold), Aluminum, Copper, and variegated leaf. These materials provide a range of tones, from warm gold hues to cool silvers and rich copper tones, along with multicolored effects in variegated options.

The flakes are irregularly shaped and range in size from approximately 1/4 inch to 1 inch, allowing for both subtle textural effects and more expressive, layered compositions. Their smaller size makes them especially useful for detailed work, controlled applications, and surfaces where a finer texture is desired compared to traditional schabin.

As composition metal products, Tamise made from imitation gold (schlagmetal) and copper will tarnish over time and should be sealed to preserve their original color and finish. Aluminum Tamise, however, will not tarnish, though it may dull slightly if left unsealed.

Tamise Leaf is intended for interior use only and is not recommended for exterior applications due to its susceptibility to environmental exposure.

Tamise Leaf is ideal for:

• Textural and decorative wall finishes

• Furniture and interior accents

• Mixed-media artwork

• Detailed metallic effects and layering

• Variegated and contemporary finishes

Tamise is typically applied by hand, allowing for controlled placement, layering, and blending of flakes to achieve a custom finish. Because of its irregular form, it is especially suited for artistic and non-uniform designs rather than precise gilding.

Proper handling with clean, dry tools and storage in a stable, dry environment will help maintain the quality of the material prior to use. When properly applied and sealed where necessary, Tamise Leaf offers a refined, textural metallic finish that adds depth, movement, and visual interest to a wide range of interior applications.
